CivicRec uses a pop-up window that you can minimize in the background to stay connected to the receipt printer. This makes printing receipts extremely fast from the browser. When it opens for the first time, you have to make sure to Allow all popups or CivicRec cannot connect to the receipt printer.
In Receipt Printer Configuration you can print a test receipt.
