The Auto Billing Date field under Membership Settings references when a payment will be drafted each month as well as the start date of the membership. You can choose to start the membership on the date of sign-up or a specific day of the month.
- Date of Signup: The membership will start on the date of purchase/sign-up and the monthly billing cycle will continue from there. No discounts are required.
- 1st of the Month: This will start the membership on the 1st day of the current month. For example, if a user purchases a membership on May 12th and the auto-billing date is set to the 1st, the membership will show as starting on May 1st. Therefore, a pro-rated discount needs to be associated with the purchase so the user does not pay for the days before they sign-up.
- Other Dates: The membership will start on the date selected in the current month. CivicRec does not currently allow for cross-month auto-billing. Membership auto-billing/start dates must reside in the same month as when the membership purchase was made. So if a user purchases a membership on May 12th, and the auto-billing/start date is set to the 15th, the membership will not be active until May 15th since CivicRec cannot go back to April 15th to start the membership (cross-month).
