CivicRec includes features that allow you to directly contact users. In addition to sending emails to customers, you can also communicate via SMS Alerts/Text messaging. This article will show you how to send SMS alerts/texts to the participants, coaches, team managers, and waiting lists of selected activities.
Important Notes
- Due to the system, the SMS Character Limit is 160.
- Recipients can reply to SMS messages, but they will receive no response.
- Ensure that you configure your user's phone information.
- To opt-in to text messaging services, see how to select Can Receive Text messages on the Account Menu in the Configure a User's Phone Details article.
Instructions
- Navigate to the Communicate tab, then select SMS Alerts
- Fill in the fields
- Selected Activities: Use the drop-down filters to narrow your list to the specific group of individuals to whom you wish to send your message
- Recipients: Further specify among Participants, Coaches, Team Managers, and/or Waiting Lists
- Subject: Enter the SMS heading

Text Message: Enter the content of the SMS Alert (messages are limited to 160 characters). Be sure to include your organization name in the field so those receiving the message know where it's coming from.
- Select Send Message
- Recently sent SMS Alert messages will display under Recent Alerts on the right-hand side
