Gatekicker Installation

Overview

This article will show you how to configure and install a Gate Kicker device. 

Important Note

Successful check-ins to the configured membership packages will trigger the Gate Kicker that is connected to the computer performing check-ins. Gate Kicker is only configurable with the check-in option located along the top of the screen and not within the activities module.

Instructions

  1. Plug in the Gate Kicker device to the computer that you will use for check-ins
  2. Install CivicRec tray application.
  3. Ensure that the CivicRec tray application is running
  4. Navigate to your CivicRec website
  5. Navigate to Configuration > Organization > Organization Options

  6. Scroll down and change Gate Kicker settings

    • Gate Kicker Enabled for Check-ins: Select Yes
    • Gate Kicker COM Port: Key in the appropriate COM port.
      • Note: If the COM port is unknown you can use your computers “Device Manager” to identify the COM port at which Gate Kicker is located.
    • Gate Kicker Time (in seconds): This setting allows you to set how long it will unlock the door
      • Note: Recommended value is ten (10) seconds.
  7. Click Send to Gate Kicker Device

    • If you did not receive a verification message, please verify the CivicRec Tray app is running.

    • Consult the CivicRec Tray App log to confirm communication
  8. Click Save Settings at the bottom of the page

  9. Navigate to Activities > Activity List

  10. Find the Activity or Activities you wish to edit

  11. Edit the Membership Session

  12. Select the Advanced tab

  13. Under Membership Settings, select the Trigger Gate Kicker option

  14. Click Save Session

  15. You will now be able to see Gate Kicker-related options in the Check-In drop-down menu

  16. The Open Gate Kicker button referenced above allows a manual open option for staff
  17. The Reset Gate Kicker button referenced above allows a staff member to reset the device
